What it does
Nutritional Label Maker (nutritionallabelmaker.com) is a free, browser-based nutrition label maker from Glenwhisper Limited, part of EMD Tools, for small food brands, makers and packaging designers: enter nutrition values, build them from a recipe with USDA FoodData Central ingredient data, or copy them from a label you already have, choose where the product will be sold (United States, Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the European Union, Canada, Australia or New Zealand), and get that market's nutrition panel, ingredient list and allergen text with a readiness check, as exact-size PDF, SVG or PNG files. It is built from the published rules and is not reviewed or approved by any regulator.
Start in the nutritional label maker, or see the markets we support side by side. Everything is free during launch (pricing).
-
One product, the right label per market
You describe the product once. Each market then gets its own label: its nutrients in its order, its reference values, its rounding and its language.
-
Made in your browser
Values, recipes and labels are calculated and drawn on your device. Analytics never contain them. Privacy policy.
-
Preview and file match
The preview and every download (PDF, SVG and PNG) are drawn from the same layout, measured in points with the same font files.
-
Readiness, not promises
Each market shows what it still needs, what was checked and what is out of scope, instead of a promise.
The data we use
Recipes are calculated with ingredient data from USDA FoodData Central: SR Legacy (April 2018, 7,793 foods) and Foundation Foods (October 2026, 407 foods), 8,200 foods in all, per 100 g as USDA publishes them. The data is in the public domain under CC0 1.0; our copy is version fdc-sr2018-fd2026-10-45d04d4eeb, and every recipe records the version it was
calculated with. A missing value in the data stays missing: the maker asks for it rather than assuming zero. A recipe calculation is an estimate of the finished
product, not a lab analysis.
How the rules are kept
Every rule comes from the primary source for its market: the regulation itself, and the regulator’s own guidance where the law leaves a detail open. We read them, then a second, separate pass checks every number against the same sources before it ships.
- Every number cites its source. Daily values, reference intakes, rounding steps, type sizes and nutrient order are stored as rule data with the source and clause they come from, plus each rule’s status (proposed, enacted, in effect, in transition or closed) and the dates it applies from.
- Rule sets are versioned. Each market’s rule set has a version number. Every label you download is kept as an unchangeable version that records the rules version it was made with, so you can always see which rules a label followed, and the maker tells you when they have changed since.
- Proposed rules never change a label. We track them and switch them on only when they are in force.

Proposed rules we watch but don’t apply
- US front-of-package "Nutrition Info box" (FDA proposed rule, 90 FR 5426). Proposed 16 January 2025; comments closed 15 July 2025; no final rule as of 4 November 2026.
- US labeling of gluten cross-contact (FDA request for information, 91 FR 2781). Request for information 22 January 2026; no proposed rule.
- EU revision of Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 (harmonized front-of-pack labeling, nutrient profiles, origin, date marking). Announced in 2020; no legislative proposal adopted as of 4 November 2026. It would also apply in Northern Ireland.
- Mandatory Health Star Rating in Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ Proposal P1067). Second call for submissions 28 October – 23 December 2026; the Health Star Rating stays voluntary meanwhile.
Changes
- November 4, 2026: first version of all 7 rule sets (2026.11.0).
When a rule changes, the rule set gets a new version, and this list says what changed.
What the readiness check means
Each market in the maker shows one of three statuses, with the checks behind it and what is out of scope.
- Needs values A value the market requires is missing (an empty value is never treated as zero), so the label can’t be made yet.
- Needs review The label can be drawn, but something needs your eyes: a rule that depends on facts we can’t see, a conversion to confirm, or a national rule we haven’t verified.
- Ready Ready for the supported output: every check we run passed for that market and format. It is not an approval.
What “beta” means
Every rule set is in beta: built from the published rules and tested against worked examples from the regulators’ guidance, but not yet reviewed by an independent food labeling specialist. A market moves out of beta only after that review.
Nutritional Label Maker is not a regulator, and no regulator reviews labels made here. We are not affiliated with the FDA, the USDA, the FSA, Food Standards Scotland, the European Commission, Health Canada, the CFIA, FSANZ or New Zealand’s MPI. You are responsible for your label: check every line before you print it.
Not supported yet
- US: protein % Daily Value is not printed (there is no protein quality (PDCAAS) input yet), so protein shows grams only.
- US: no dual-column tabular format, no aggregate displays (several foods in one panel) and no "as prepared" columns.
- US: no Spanish or bilingual English/Spanish panel, and vitamin D is declared in micrograms only (not in IU).
- EU: the national label-language rule for Austria, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Portugal and Romania is not verified from national law yet, so labels for those countries show Needs review.
- Dietary supplements, infant and young-child foods, medical foods, alcoholic drinks and USDA-inspected meat and poultry follow their own rules and are not supported.
Who runs it
Nutritional Label Maker is built and run by Glenwhisper Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (HK Business Registration No. 76935415; Registered office: Unit 1603, 16/F, The L. Plaza, 367-375 Queen's Road Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong).
It is part of EMD Tools (Evergreen Microtools Development): dedicated micro-websites, each built to be the best at one job, free to start and explained in plain words. This one has a single job: the right nutrition label for your pack.
We read every message sent through the contact form, and what food makers, brands and packaging designers tell us decides what we build next.
Found a rule we got wrong?
Tell us. A wrong rule is the most useful message we can get.
- Open the contact form and choose “A rule looks wrong”.
- Tell us the market (and, for the EU, the country and language), the label format and the line that looks wrong.
- Add a link to the official source if you have one.
We check it against the source, fix the rule data, release a new rules version and list the change on this page.
Other EMD Tools

- Name Badge Creator Designed name badges from an attendee list.
