Who we are
Nutritional Label Maker at nutritionallabelmaker.com (the "site") is provided by Glenwhisper Limited, a company incorporated in Hong Kong (glenwhisper.com), "we" or "us". HK Business Registration No. 76935415. Registered office: Unit 1603, 16/F, The L. Plaza, 367-375 Queen's Road Central, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong.
These terms apply whenever you use the site, including the label maker, ingredient data, guides, accounts and forms. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. You can reach us through our contact form.
Using the site
You can choose markets, enter values or a recipe and preview your labels without an account. Downloading a finished label needs a free account. A signed-in account can keep up to 50 products; current limits are always shown on the pricing page.
You may use the labels you make for any lawful purpose, including on products you sell, and you may send the files to your printer or packaging designer. You don't need to credit us.
Your label is your responsibility
- You are responsible for the label on your product: its values, ingredients, allergens, claims and the format you choose. We make the label from what you enter; we do not test food, check your recipe against your product, or know how your product is made.
- No regulator approves labels made here. Labels are built from the published rules for each market (for example 21 CFR 101.9 in the US, Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 in the EU, the Food and Drug Regulations in Canada and the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code), and each market shows a readiness status with what was checked. "Ready" means ready for the output we support, not approved. Nutritional Label Maker is not affiliated with the FDA, the USDA, the FSA, Food Standards Scotland, the European Commission, Health Canada, the CFIA or FSANZ.
- Recipe calculations are estimates. Values built from a recipe use published ingredient data and the weights you enter. Cooking, processing and natural variation change real values. Where the rules for your market or your product need laboratory analysis, get it.
- Allergens are always your call. The site may suggest allergens from ingredient names. You confirm each one, and you decide any precautionary statement based on your own risk assessment.
- Some products follow their own rules (for example infant food, food for special medical purposes, dietary supplements, alcoholic drinks and, in the US, meat and poultry under the USDA). The site flags these; do not use it as the only check for them.
- Guides and rule summaries are general information, not legal or regulatory advice. For a decision about your product, ask a qualified food labeling professional.
Your account
- Give a real email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- One person per account. Tell us through the contact form if you think someone else has used yours.
- You can delete your account at any time in Account settings. That deletes your saved products and their label versions, as our privacy policy explains.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why where we reasonably can.
Your products and recipes
The product names, values, recipes, ingredient lists and notes you add (your "content") are yours. We claim no ownership of them.
- You are responsible for having the right to use what you add, such as a supplier's specification or a lab report you were given. Don't add anything that infringes someone else's rights or that you are bound to keep confidential from us.
- If you put someone else's personal details in a product, such as a business contact's name in the address printed on the pack, you are responsible for having a good reason to, and for following the data protection law that applies to you.
- You give us permission to store and process your content only as needed to run the site for you: to show your labels, create your files, keep your saved products and provide support. We never use your recipes or values to train or run AI models, never sell your content, and our data processing terms below say how we handle it.
If someone tells us that content in a saved product infringes their rights or was added unlawfully, we may remove it and will let you know.
Data processing terms
When you save a product to your account, we store any personal data in it (for example a business contact's name) on your behalf. For that data you are the controller and we are your processor (under the UK and EU GDPR), or your data processor (under Hong Kong's PDPO). These terms are our processing agreement with you for it:
- Your instructions only. We process it only to provide the service you use: storing your products and label versions, showing them to you when you sign in, and supporting you when you ask. We never use it for our own purposes, never sell it, and never include it in the anonymous design log, the download log or analytics.
- Confidentiality. Only people on our team who need it to run the service or to answer a request from you can access stored products, and they must keep them confidential.
- Security. Data travels only over HTTPS. Products are stored in our database and can be read only through your signed-in account. Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes, and sessions only as hashes of their tokens. Label files are made in your browser, not on our servers.
- Sub-processors. Cloudflare, Inc. hosts the site and the database. Google LLC (Gmail) holds our team inbox, which receives only what you send us through the contact form. You authorize these sub-processors. Cloudflare processes stored data under its data processing addendum. We will list any new sub-processor in our privacy policy before it handles your data, and you can delete your products or account if you object.
- Transfers. Data may be processed outside the UK and the EU, as our privacy policy describes, under the Standard Contractual Clauses in Cloudflare's data processing addendum.
- Helping you. You can open, correct and delete your products yourself at any time. We will give you the information you reasonably need to show that these terms are followed.
- Breaches. If we become aware of a breach affecting your saved products, we will tell you without undue delay, with what we know, so you can meet your own obligations.
- Deletion. A product you delete is removed for good, with its label versions, 30 days later. Deleting your account removes your products and their label versions right away.
If your business needs these terms as a separate data processing agreement, contact us and choose "Printers, designers or partnerships".
Checking and printing
- Check every line of every label before you print: values, serving size, ingredients, allergens, language and the business details.
- Print at actual size (100%), not "fit to page": scaling a label down can take its text below the minimum size for the market.
- Print one copy on plain paper and measure it before you print on labels or send the file to your printer.
- Keep a copy of each label you use and the records behind its values. Your account keeps the label versions you downloaded, but it is not a substitute for your own records.
Templates
You may download, print, edit and fill in our blank nutrition label templates, and use them on your own products and on products you design or print for your clients, with no credit to us. You may not sell, share or publish the templates themselves as templates (for example on a template marketplace or in a design bundle).
Blank templates don't calculate, round or check anything. Fill them in with values that already follow the market's rounding rules, or use the maker, which applies them for you. A filled-in template is your label, and the rest of these terms apply to it.
Official marks and symbols
- USDA organic seal. Only operations with USDA National Organic Program certification may use the seal, and only on products that qualify. The maker adds the official seal artwork only after you confirm your certification details, and it doesn't check them: that is your responsibility and your certifying agent's.
- Canada's front-of-package symbol. Where the assessment says a "High in" symbol is required, the maker uses Health Canada's official symbol artwork, unaltered, at the official size. Don't recolor, redraw or rearrange it, and check the exemptions that depend on facts the maker can't see.
- Australia's country-of-origin mark. The maker never draws the standard mark (the kangaroo logo and bar chart). Where it is required, make it with the official free tool on business.gov.au.
- Don't use any official mark, seal or symbol on a product that is not entitled to it.
Acceptable use
Please use the site fairly. You must not:
- use it to break the law or to deceive people, for example to make a label you know misstates a product's nutrition, ingredients or allergens;
- use official marks or symbols (such as a certification seal) on a product that is not entitled to them;
- add content that is unlawful, hateful or infringes someone else's rights;
- try to break, overload or get around the limits or security of the site, share accounts to dodge limits, or scrape it with automated tools in a way that harms other users;
- send spam, malware or abusive messages through the forms.
We may block access from anyone who breaks these rules.
Our site and your labels
The site, its design, code, rule data and guides belong to Glenwhisper Limited or the people we license them from; ingredient data comes from USDA FoodData Central, which is in the public domain. You may use the labels you make with Nutritional Label Maker freely. Please don't copy or resell the site, its rule data or its guides as your own product. You are welcome to link to any page.
Pricing
During launch all six markets, every start mode and every download are free. We plan to offer a Starter plan at $10 per month later, for saved products, market variants and version history. Nothing can be bought today. Before anyone can pay, we will announce it on the pricing page and publish terms covering billing, refunds and cancellation, which will apply in addition to these. Labels you made while they were free stay yours.
Changes to the service
We work to keep the site and its rule data available and accurate, but the service is provided as it is and as available. Rules change; we update the rule data as they do, and labels you already downloaded stay as they were. We may change, add or remove features, markets, formats or limits, and we may pause the site for maintenance. Keep your own copy of the label files you use. Where a change takes away something you rely on, we will try to give notice on the site first.
Liability
The site, the labels it makes, the templates and the guides are provided without any promise that they will be error-free, that a label meets the rules of a particular market, or that they suit your particular purpose, except where the law does not allow such promises to be excluded. Each market's rule set is in beta: built from the published rules, not independently reviewed. Guides are general information, not legal, regulatory or professional advice.
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses that come from using the site, including the cost of labels, packaging or reprinting, product recalls, regulatory action, misprints, delays or lost data. Checking every label and keeping the records behind its values are your strongest protection against these.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you use the site as a consumer, you keep all the rights the law gives you.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The courts of Hong Kong can deal with any dispute about them, but they are not the only place you can go (their jurisdiction is non-exclusive).
If you use the site as a consumer, for example in the UK, the European Union or the United States, you keep the protection of any rules in the law where you live that cannot be overridden by a contract, and you can bring a claim in your local courts where that law allows it. Before going to court, please tell us what went wrong. Most problems can be fixed with a message.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the site changes, for example when Starter launches. We will change the effective date at the top when we do, and email account holders about meaningful changes. If you keep using the site after an update, the new terms apply. Questions about these terms? Contact us.
